Matlyn College Consulting was founded by Kitty Schmitt, a UCLA College Counseling certificated college admissions counselor, who provides personal and professional counseling to students and their families and guides them through the college admissions process.
Choosing and applying to colleges is a self-discovery process that can be enjoyable with the proper guidance and a focused plan of action. With over 14 years of experience, Matlyn College Consulting, Inc. can help relieve the stress and anxiety in the college admissions process by providing guidance to students in making appropriate college choices that provide the best environments for their growth and guiding them through the college admissions process.
Coming from a line of educators, Kitty has 34 years of education experience and is very passionate about helping students and their families achieve success with their educational goals. Kitty holds current teaching credentials in Illinois and California. Her professional background includes teaching elementary and junior high school in both states as well as being a principal at Our Savior’s Lutheran School in San Clemente. She spends time on the boards of nonprofit such as the The San Clemente Educational Foundation, South Coast Boys and Girls Club, and the Casa Romantica. She is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC).
Originally from Illinois, Kitty has lived in San Clemente, CA, for 40 years with her late husband Mark, two children, Caitlyn and Matthew (Matlyn) and their dog, Rosalita.
